Homegrown Fantaseeds' 2001 Cannabis Cup prizewinner, Blue haze, is crossed here with a sweetheart female, the Silver Pearl, to produce an enviable plant. Blue Pearl is a tall sativa-like strain with a soft taste and strong high. Indoors, she grows well as a multi-branch plant, but can be tamed with some effort to fit a sea of green growing style. Blue Pearl forms nine cone-like single colas, compact and picture perfect rather than the loose clusters sometimes found with sativas or hazes in particular. The minimal foliage is dark green and the leaflets are skinny and finger-like. Blue Pearl's mother, the Silver Pearl, is a fast finishing sativa, balancing out the super long season usually required for a haze. As a result, this plant can be grown outdoors in a wide belt between 45 degrees North and 45 degrees South. Given the grow characteristics of equatorial plants, this variety produces well, with an average 20-25 grams from a 70 cm (2 foot) plant. For those who like an up, nearly psychedelic type of high, Blue pearl will be a favorite. The flavor is mild with a fresh edge of lemon citrus that cleans the palate. The buzz is a creeper but then the pearly grin kicks in with a trippy tonethat provokes new perspectives. Terrific for summertime.
